Xcel Energy Center to Host Energizing the Front Line Dec. 17-23

In response to the ongoing significant impact of COVID-19 on health care workers and first responders, Xcel Energy Center, in partnership with Xcel Energy, has launched Energizing the Front Line - a program that will provide front line workers with take-home heat-and-serve holiday meal kits, giving them one less thing to worry about this holiday season and more time with their loved ones.

To help directly support the front line and brighten their holidays, members of the community can participate in an Xcel Energy Power Play by purchasing a holiday meal kit for a front line worker, increasing the number of front line workers that will be impacted. A donation of $25 purchases two meals, $50 for four meals and $100 covers eight meals for the front line.

To make the holidays extra special, each day Dec. 17-23, one holiday meal kit will contain a golden ticket worth $500 at the Hockey Lodge. Additionally, one $500 Hockey Lodge golden ticket will be awarded to a randomly selected participant who purchased an Xcel Energy Power Play meal kit.*

“The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted our communities and we have stepped up our response, building on the long-time support of the communities we serve,” said Chris Clark, President, Xcel Energy – Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota. “Health care workers and first responders are making tremendous sacrifices and working through extraordinary conditions to care for us and keep us safe. We are proud to support this program by putting good energy into action to thank our health care heroes for all they do and hopefully brighten their holiday season.”

The holiday meal kits, prepared by Levy Restaurants, will contain rosemary seared chicken, herb roasted potatoes, cheesy cauliflower gratin, artisan bread and butter. Xcel Energy will also include a free LED light bulb. Making the switch to LED lighting is a simple way to save energy and money.

To show support to the front line when they pick up their meals, a festive holiday atmosphere will be in full effect and special surprise guests will be helping to distribute meals each day. In addition, the names of those who purchased a holiday meal kit will be displayed on the large outdoor marquees at Xcel Energy Center so contributors can “see their name in lights.”

Xcel Energy Center will work with local health care and first responder organizations to share this opportunity with their employees.
