Minnesota Wild and Xcel Energy Center Introduce Wild Market

Saint Paul, MN – A new, convenience-oriented store is coming to Xcel Energy Center. Wild Market, located on the arena’s main concourse near Section 113, will debut tomorrow night, December 16, when the Minnesota Wild hosts the Chicago Blackhawks. Wild Market features Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, which enables guests to purchase food and beverages without waiting in line. It also features Amazon One, which gives guests the option to enter the store and pay for their items with a hover of their palm. Xcel Energy Center is the first arena in Minnesota to feature Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One.

Wild Market, operated by arena concessions partner Levy in collaboration with Levy's innovation studio, DBK Studio, aims to eliminate checkout lines and create an easy and convenient way for guests to purchase what they want during Wild games and other events, as fast as possible. To enter Wild Market, guests have the option of either inserting their credit card or hovering their palm over an Amazon One device. Once they’re inside, they shop like normal. The technology determines what items they’ve taken from or returned to the shelves. After they leave, the credit card they inserted or linked to their Amazon One ID is charged for the items they took.

“The fan experience is extremely important to us, and we are excited to open Wild Market featuring Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One at Xcel Energy Center for Wild games and all our arena events,” said Matt Majka, Minnesota Wild President. “Our fans will experience the added convenience of quicker transactions getting them back to their seats faster with less time standing in line.”

“We’re excited to collaborate with Xcel Energy Center and Levy to launch the Wild Market,” said Dilip Kumar, Vice President, AWS Applications. “Our goal is to enable a fast and frictionless shopping experience for Wild fans using Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One so they can grab their refreshments and get back to the action as fast as possible.”

A wide variety of items will be available including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and candy. Guests purchasing alcohol will be required to show their ID to a store attendant for age verification.
