Xcel Energy Center Partners with University of Minnesota Students for Sustainable Fan Engagement

View All News

Xcel Energy Center and the NHL’s Minnesota Wild are pleased to announce their continued partnership with the University of Minnesota Green Team.  For the third year in a row, students from the University of Minnesota’s Sport Management program serve as sustainability ambassadors at up to 12 Minnesota Wild home games at Saint Paul’s Xcel Energy Center.

These students undergo a training on the venue’s sustainability program, including what products are compostable, recyclable or considered trash. After completion of the onsite training, these students, donned in “green team” t-shirts work side by side with fans in the concourse to ensure that they are recycling properly. The partnership results in better recycling numbers, a better fan experience, leadership opportunities for students and an overall educational experience about the importance of sustainability.
