Transportation

Saint Paul will be easily accessible from all points of the compass.  Major highways (Interstate 94 and 35E) run through downtown Saint Paul, making it easily accessible from all parts of the state.  For an extensive list of maps and directions please click here.

Shuttle Bus Service
The Saint Paul local organizing committee has retained the services of metroConnections, Inc. to operate and manage a private shuttle system connecting the official U.S. Championship hotels with the Xcel Energy Center and Pleasant Arena. (This shuttle does not provide service to or from the MSP airport or any non-official hotels.)  There will be a separate shuttle for credentialed participants (Red Line) and individuals purchasing bus passes (Blue Line).  Skaters, chaperones and coaches with an official championship credential may ride buses on both the Red Line and Blue Line for no charge.  Individuals without credentials wishing to use the shuttles must purchase a bus pass and are restricted to using the Blue line shuttle.  The shuttles will be on a published schedule with a 30-minute-or-less frequency.

Please visit the Shuttle Bus page of this website for more information on purchasing shuttle bus passes, participating hotels, maps and more.

Skyways
Many of Saint Paul's city blocks are conveniently connected on the second floors by five miles of award-winning skyway system. In case you're unfamiliar, a Skyway is an above ground, climate-controlled walkway that connects the buildings in both downtown Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Skyway maps are located throughout the system and each walkway is color-coded to make navigating easy.

Metro Transit Buses
You can travel to any point in the Twin Cities on our Metro Transit Bus System. System maps are available at the Metro Transit Station in downtown Saint Paul on Minnesota Street as well as the Metro Transit Office in the skyway. metrotransit.org

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) has earned a reputation as one of the safest, most convenient and efficiently run airports in the world. Located just 8-1/2 miles from downtown Saint Paul, more than 34 million travelers use the airport each year, and that number continues to grow. It is anticipated by the year 2010 that more than 40 million travelers will use MSP annually. An aggressive plan is in place for improving facilities to accommodate this growth.

As a hub, the Twin Cities benefits from non-stop service to nearly 130 domestic destinations, nine Canadian cities, four European cities, two Asian cities and 10 destination in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. MSP offers more non-stop service than many other U.S. cities with larger populations.

Northwest Airlines, the fourth largest airline in the United States, is headquartered in the Twin Cities. The airline is committed to making your travel experience the most convenient, most enjoyable and the safest possible. Along with Northwest, travelers have their choice of major domestic airlines including America West, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Trans World Airlines, United and US Airways.

With 12 domestic airlines, three international and four regional airlines, travelers can connect to every major city in six continents. Arriving and departing flights of seven charter airlines also keep the Lindbergh and Humphrey Terminals buzzing. Cargo service at MSP is on the rise with 19 airlines moving shipments through the airport daily.

Car Rental
Car rental companies have phone banks on the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport baggage claim level, opposite carousels 2, 5 and 10. Rental car counters are located in the new parking and rental car facility called the Hub Building or on the lower level of the Blue and Red parking ramps. The Hub Tram takes passengers to and from the Hub Building to the Lindbergh Terminal. The free tram is located on the Tunnel Level. Information is courtesy of the Metropolitan Airports Commission.

Taxi Service
Taxis are readily available throughout the city, although it is often easiest to get a cab at one of our many hotels. You'll find Saint Paulites to be very friendly and any store, attraction or restaurant would be happy to contact a taxi company for you.
